Sources of radioactive waste, waste types and classification; radiation health risks and effects of low doses; radiation protection in decommissioning, waste from medical activities, from nuclear fuel cycle, from decommissioning nuclear plants and arising from radioactive materials in the natural environment.

Principles in waste management
Waste management policy and regulatory issues; ethical aspects and stakeholder engagement in RWM; different disposal approaches and disposal site characterization; the concept of surface and geological disposal.

European Experiences
Experience of waste management and disposal in France, Germany, Spain and Sweden; experience in the UK in developing national policy.
